Meet The Author

Tamar Darmas

Featured in the 2024 Marquis Who’s Who, Tamar is a low-key storyteller that hails from a small town just east of New Orleans. Tamar brings the same bold flavor to her writings that you’d find in a bowl of her gumbo. She obtained her bachelor’s from the University of Texas and is a acquiring a master’s degree from Purdue University as a mental health nurse practitioner. She currently resides in Houston, Texas and is the wife of a short film producer and the mother of two extraordinary girls. Some of her favorite author’s are Elaine Welteroth and Abby Jimenez. Her debut book Promise, Not Pride was born out of a deep tug on her heart for the next generation. Tamar couldn’t shake the feeling of knowing that today’s kids may grow up never knowing the original meaning of the rainbow. She wanted kids to know that before it was a cultural symbol, it was a heavenly one. Tamar’s writings are funny, faith-filled, and just a little bit rebellious, in the best way. She believes kids deserve stories that spark their faith, shape their identity, and remind them that they were made on purpose for a purpose. When Tamar’s not writing, she enjoys family time, painting, biking and exploring new coffee shops with an order of beignets on stand-by.
